Your Heart provides faithful guidance on how to act on what truly matters for you as each moment arrives. There are as many neurons in your heart as there are in your brain, so in terms of sorting things out in the best possible way, it's got the parts!
Tending to the subtle signals from hearts centre such as imagery, intuition & subtle awareness, means our authentic nature surfaces to gently take the reigns.
Whether you've taken the Nurture Wheel for a spin & landed in the Heart element or simply chosen Heart as a focal point for inviting TLC in, the body-mind practice below dips into the nurture available now.
1 How tuned into the rhythm of your heart are you right now? Imagine an emerald dial in front of you labeled 'HEART'.
2 Reach out & turn the dial until your hand stops. Did it turn 1/3 of the way around - 2/3rds, or did it turn full circle?
3 If your dial turned to the first 1/3 consider it 'rest & root'; 2/3rds of a turn is more like growth; Full circle? it's bloom & harvest time.
4 Read through step 5 to get clear on what you're about to do, then soften & close your eyes, take a breath or two to complete step 5.
5 Draw to mind a time [perhaps recent or maybe an imagined event] where your heart felt good - great even. It may have been with someone else, in nature, or in a sweet private moment. Stay with this image, & continue to bring up as much detail about it as possible, include any smells or sounds to let it really land in your body & then scan for any sensations that come up.
6 Repeat steps 1 and 2 to recheck your dial. Notice what seems different now both in your body & on your dial to take measure of what happens when you take a moment to nurture yourself & feed your own strength of heart.
This practice activates your parasympathetic nervous system to calm the fight or flight impulse & strengthen the connective tissue - or bridge - between the right & left sides of your brain, creating more balance, calm & grace as you approach any situation you may face in life. As you explore mindful, body-centered practices like these, your self-awareness, self-regulation & self-compassion grows!
Allowing yourself to receive whatever support you need to follow your hearts call can be challenging. The resistance we may have to opening ourselves to beautiful life experiences may be held in the body unconsciously by old & outworn messages that are holding your heart hostage. But you haven't been through thick & thin, braved the swamp and made it through all the crazy stuff to be stopped by this hurdle have you? We are here, now - and the opportunity to release your present & future from the grip of your past is here too. Your heart may be protecting the key to your happiness - lets knock on that door together! Your willingness alone
is more than enough to see things in motion!
